Statement of Support and Commendation for International Justice Efforts in Sudan
The Bawadi for Peace and Development Organization expresses its full support for the conviction of Ali Mohamad Ali Abd-Al-Rahman (known as Ali Kushayb) by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on charges of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide in the Darfur region This conviction represents a historic step in the pursuit of international justice and redress for victims who have suffered from the grave violations committed against innocent civilians in Darfur since the outbreak of the armed conflict.
The organization affirms that this trial constitutes a victory for international justice and a clear message that impunity will not prevail, and that justice will reach all those involved in crimes against humanity, no matter how long it takes.
In this context, the organization commends the decision of the United Nations Human Rights Council to renew the mandate of the United Nations Mission in Sudan, considering it an important step toward strengthening the protection of human rights and supporting the path of justice and accountability in the country. The organization views this decision as a reflection of the international community’s commitment to supporting the Sudanese people in their pursuit of peace, justice, and stability.
The organization further emphasizes that justice will not be complete without the surrender of all individuals wanted by the International Criminal Court, foremost among them former President Omar al-Bashir, who currently enjoys full freedom. The organization holds the Sudanese army legally and morally responsible for harboring and protecting the wanted individuals and obstructing the course of justice.
The organization renews its call to the international community, human rights organizations, and all active forces within and outside Sudan to continue their efforts toward achieving full justice, compensating the victims and their families, and ensuring that such crimes are never repeated in the future.
