Bawadi for Peace and Development Organization strongly condemns, in the harshest terms, the heinous crime of targeting innocent civilians in the Darfur region through drone strikes, which took place on October 2, 2025, in both Al Zurq area in North Darfur and Bulbul area in South Darfur.
In Al Zurq, a crowded market filled with civilians was targeted, resulting in a large number of casualties and injuries among unarmed citizens.
In Bulbul, an airstrike hit a social gathering, leading to a horrific massacre that claimed the lives of more than 80 civilians, most of them women and children, in a crime that amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The involvement of foreign aircraft in support of extremist Islamist groups in Sudan particularly the Turkish-made Bayraktar Akıncı drones represents a dangerous escalation that deepens the suffering of innocent people and undermines all efforts for peace and stability in the country.
Bawadi Organization affirms that these crimes will not go unpunished and calls on the international community and regional and human rights organizations to:
- Document and condemn these crimes regionally and internationally.
- Hold Sudanese army leaders and allied militias accountable through urgent and deterrent measures.
- Deter countries supporting terrorism in Sudan and prevent their interference in internal affairs.
- Provide urgent protection for civilians in the Darfur and Kordofan regions, who have become targets of the Sudanese army’s airstrikes and its foreign backers.
The silence of the international community over such crimes only encourages their repetition and exacerbates the suffering of the Sudanese people, who continue to face the horrors of war, displacement, and systematic killings.
